It appears that good things can happen when the UK gets blasted with the heaviest snow in 100 years. With the country coming to a complete halt, forum regular Step One had time to put together this sweet compilation of bootleg remixes and blends. Information on whoever was putting these out was usually pretty thin on the ground for obvious reasons but they often held some real gems. 08 Method Man & Redman-How High (Bootleg Remix)
The acapella of this track was definitely a favourite amongst producers, probably due to the amount of quotable lines from Red & Meth at their peak. This version uses the ‘Human Nature’ melody over EPMD's ‘You’re A Customer’ beat.

09 Mobb Deep-Hell On Earth (Paul Miles Remix)
Another UK remix, this time by Birmingham DJ Paul Miles (aka Pat Bateman).

10 Nas-It Aint Hard To Tell (DJ Day Remix)

So, you had to know this would be brought up here eventually. I'm not gonna get into how great the album was, what my favorites were off of it, how crazy I thought Communism was, or any of that at this time. Right now, it's all about one of the possibly greatest records to own, just for the remixes. I remember feeling stupefied when I first heard both remixes on the same night. I figured that one of them had to be unofficial or a really great homegrown remix. But when I copped the promo a week or two later and realized that they were both on the record and both done by the Large Professor, well, shit. And I only recently realized that only the CD single had the dirty versions, so you're gonna want to download everything here at the bottom of the post.

Or is it the Extra P Remix? This is my personal favorite and always has been. Some people can favor one today and the other tomorrow. This is so great with the night time 95 groove. That sample just blew my mind and still does. He was catching samples nobody else will ever be able to match.

Here's a dope late 90s mixtape from the Chicago-based DJ tandem "Rockwell & Chemta". It contains quite a few ill segments, and I'm including some divshare samples to provide you with a general idea as to what you should expect. DJ PNS - Chicago Rocks Vol.1

In 1996, DJ PNS dropped the first of classic mixtape series "Chicago Rocks". It is known for strictly featuring Chicago emcees. The Molemen had dropped a few highly-influential mixtapes but the "Chicago Rocks" series was, without question, their finest contribution to the mixtape market. It featured Molemen affliates as usual like E.C. Illa, Vakill, Ang 13 then you have up & coming artists such as Rubberoom, Stony Island, D2 Tha Es, Fully G, Tha Chamba... It also features known names such as Common Sense, Tung Twista, No I.D. & Dug Infinite, and Crucial Conflict. The "Chicago Rocks" series would follow with two more volumes that you will get in a few days. Now, take you time and listen to this Chi-Town piece of history.

The original was sparser and more raw, but this remix is more layered, ringing, and insistent, which lends itself well to the tone of alarm being conveyed. Adding Big L to the chorus was an excellent decision.

Kemo's version of Aceyalone's catchy ode to rocking shows and raking in the dough was the top finalist in a remix contest announced on the original's sleeve. Besides being a banger of a beat, it also complements Aceyalone's whimsical vocals quite well.

18. Camp Lo "Coolie High" (Paradise Remix)

Only Camp-Lo can out-smooth Camp-Lo. This version pulls off that sultry slick nonsensical jewel heist vibe that these BX rhymers consistently aimed for in their heyday.
